We have been thinking about caterpillars a lot lately but they’re not the only minibeasts living in our gardens. Ask a grown-up if you can go out into your garden (or on a walk) and hunt for minibeasts. Take paper and a pencil and make a list of all the different creatures you find. Remember, when looking for minibeasts you might have to get low on the ground!

RE

Today I would like you to watch a little more of the video.
Watch up to 21:00

The Friday of Holy week is called ‘Good Friday’ and it is when we remember that Jesus died on the cross. Jesus died for us, so that whenever we say sorry we are forgiven.

When Jesus died on Good Friday, lots of people were very sad. But good news was on its way.

Easter Sunday is when we celebrate Jesus coming back. We can celebrate by saying, “He is risen!” On Sunday morning I’d like you to practice saying “He is risen!”

Jesus’ friends, the disciples, were so happy to see Jesus again and this was a very happy day for them.

On the sheet below, colour in the cross and then draw yourself to remind us that Jesus died for us.

Caterpillar Sheet

The caterpillars have gone to live at Mrs Blagden’s house over the isolation/Easter break so we can keep an eye on how they’re doing. I think you will agree they have done a lot of growing! The brown stuff at the bottom of the jar is what they eat to help them grow.

Today I would like you to think of/write a sentence for each of the two photos below. The first picture shows the caterpillars on the day they arrived. The second photo shows them today at 11 days old.

You might want to include key words such as; caterpillar, small, still, eat, grow, bigger, moving, hairy, crawl.

– How do you think Jesus felt when he found his friends sleeping?

- What could the Disciples say to Jesus to make him feel better?

Pretend you are one of Jesus’ special friends who fell asleep in the garden, make him a card to show that you are sorry. You could draw a picture of the garden on the front or something that will cheer Jesus up.

Monday 29th March 2021

Please Note: Due to staffing levels, there will be no Zoom Sessions today.

Last week we looked at, ‘The very hungry caterpillar’. Today I would like you to write your own version of this story and choose different foods for the caterpillar to eat. Try to include some describing words with each food, for example, ‘juicy pineapple, ‘bright green avocado’. Draw pictures to go with your story.

I’ve attached some special patterned paper if you have a printer at home and would like to use it.

RE

Yesterday was Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week. We are going to explore what happened to Jesus during this special week.

Watch the video below up to 12:25

In the video you saw Jesus wash his friends’ feet. He wanted to show them that no-one is too special to help others and that everyone can do helpful things.
Sometimes Jesus is called ‘The Servant King’.

I’d like you to follow in Jesus’ footsteps and find something you can do today to help someone else. This could be; helping set the table at teatime, tidying your room or asking a grown-up if there are any jobs you could help with.

After he washed the Disciples’ feet, Jesus shared a meal with his friends. He said it was going to be ‘The Last Supper’ and that it was special. When you sit for a meal with your family today, say a little prayer to thank God for the food and your family who you share it with.

SCIENCE

Exciting news! In Class One we have our very own caterpillars. Already the children have noticed that the caterpillars are beginning to grow and create silk webbing.

Could you investigate the life cycle of a butterfly and discuss this with your grown ups at home. We have attached below a cutting and sticking activity to show the life cycle of a butterfly, but you could also make your own

This week we have been talking about 2D shapes, such as triangles, squares, circles and rectangles and the properties of these shapes. For example, how many sides does a square have? How many straight or curved sides does your shape have? Or how many corners on your shape?
Today Miss Molner at the Oak Academy will be introducing 3D shapes, she may even ask you to do your own shape hunt around your house and garden!

Mrs. Baxter is having a meeting to find out how long we will be off school. When we know more, we will update this page.

If we are off school tomorrow, then lessons will be available on this page.

Class Blog: 19/03/21

Welcome back! We have really enjoyed welcoming all the children back into school and having the full class together again. The children have adjusted back into school life and the daily routine really well and we are so proud of them all.
Read Write Inc is part of our daily learning and you will have noticed homework being brought home every Thursday. Just ten minutes of reading each day can really help your child to practice their skills and build confidence.

As part of our Lenten reflections, this week we have been thinking about ‘Love’ and how we show our love to our family and friends. The children wrote or drew their ideas in heart templates and these have been added to our display in the Hall.

Some new members of Class 1 have arrived this week! We have welcomed some caterpillars to our class, we will watch them grow and observe the changes that take place. We will keep you updated on their progress!

A reminder that next Thursday is the Zumbathon and the children need to come dressed in PE kit that day.
