SEND at St. Gerard's

St Gerard’s is an inclusive community that considers the individual needs and qualities of all its students.

How do we identify children who have Special Educational Needs (SEND) ?

Children with SEND have an educational need where their progress:

• is significantly slower than that of their peers starting from the same baseline

• fails to match or better the children’s previous rate of progress

• fails to close the attainment gap between the child and their peers Progress in areas other than attainment is also considered – for instance, where a pupil needs to make additional progress with wider development or is struggling socially.

If you are concerned about your child, please do not hesitate to contact school for an informal discussion.
