Our Parish Community

We are very proud of our Parish Community here at St. Gerard's, we are an integral part of our parish and our parish is very much part of us. Our school was built by the parish in 1928, and so is on the same site as St. Gerard's Church, making them both intrinsically linked.

All our children know St. Gerard's Church. We attend mass every Tuesday and often lead parts of the Liturgy and Liturgical music on these occasions. We join the parish at Family Mass on a designated Sunday each month. We lead Children's Liturgy during Sunday Mass.

Our Parish Priest is Mgr. Desmond Sexton who is a regular visitor at school. Many of our parish community will also come and help at our school events throughout the year.

Our children are involved in the parish in the following ways:

  • altar serving and reading at Mass
  • sharing information about events at Mass
  • speaking at Mass about school activities
  • leading liturgical music during Mass
  • performing at parish luncheon club
  • inviting the parish to school events
  • leading Stations of the Cross in Church for the community to attend during the season of Lent and every day in Holy Week
  • praying for members of our parish that need our prayers

With the help of the parish community, we were able to timeline the beginning of St. Gerard's in Thrybergh and gathered precious sources of information from the parish. Click on the link below to learn more about the history of our community.

Our School History

During October, our friend Liz Ventura from our parish came and led a shoebox packing party for the children of St. Gerard's. Every child packed a shoebox and added a prayer.

Operation Christmas Child

Our school community encompasses the Parish of St. Gerard's which is one of three church families. For more information on our lovely parish, visit the website linked below.
